About

Soft Drizzle is a short, 64x64 resolution visual novel about friendship and rainy days.

Made in 7 days for LOWREZJAM 2020

I had a lot of fun developing this game, I hope you enjoy it!

A whole playthrough should be 15 - 20 minutes long. Also: the game has some typos. Sorry. I wrote most of the screenplay during a long, coffee fueled night writing session and my mind was not in the right place. This will probably not be addressed in the near future as this was a jam game and I'm currently working on other projects.

Controls

  • Click to advance the text.
  • Space to turn AUTO mode, in case you just want to sit back and just read without having to click.
  • Click to select an option when prompted.
  • Please bear in mind that the game doesn't save your progress.

Credits

I composed the music and drew the character sprites and UI, etc. The subway and rain sound effects were created by TheMSsoundeffects and ThunderSlav, respectively.

This game was such a treat! Thank you for making this. I love rain too, and the whole vibe of the game was amazing. It made me think of the little things that we usually miss appreceating in life. Wonderful soundtrack as well! One day I plan to make my own little games too, and yours has only inspired me more to do so :)
Cheers and have a great day!

Thank you so, so much! I'm so glad you liked it! I hope you can make your own games too, best of luck! Great day to you too!

This was such an adorable & chill experience! I love the simplicity of the story. Makes me wish that I was in their friend group lol! I also love the music & art style. Wonderful job!

Pardon me if this is an odd question but! I am very curious! How did you get the text beeps to work? It's been a hot minute since I've made a VN, and I could never figure that out

(+1)

Haha, no problem. I have made two beep sounds for each character. Every time I print a letter I play one at random. That's it! I made the beep sounds using a NES soundfont in FL Studio. Does this answer your question? 🤔

That is super helpful, thank you! I'm going to try to implement that next time I make a game. Thanks so much!

Hahaha, you are welcome! If you have more questions feel free to ask me whatever you need c:

This game is really interesting and lovely! And the art is beautiful. By curiosity, did Fuyuko manage to have her super computer?

(+1)

Haha, thank you! Yes, Fuyuko got the computer in the end. They ate paninis and then played some very scary FPSs (with the lights on).

This is a really sweet game, and I'm amazed you were able to create a visually interesting yet easy-to-read visual novel with such restrictions!
